Finnair unveils a ‘berry’ fine wine
Finnair has its head in the clouds, following the launch of a bespoke Finnish cloudberry wine. The new Nordic dessert wine, named ‘Kultainen’, has been launched in partnership with the award-winning Ainoa Winery in Hollola, Finland.
The ‘Kultainen’ sweet cloudberry wine is made exclusively for Finnair and will be available to the airline’s Business Class customers from this month. Made with the best cloudberries from Lapland, the new dessert wine is balanced with pure and intense flavours, with hints of honey and citrus marmalade, giving a distinctly Finnish flair.
The name of the new wine, ‘Kultainen’, translates as ‘Golden’, representing the rich colour of the contemporary drink in a nod to Lapland’s 19th century gold rush. Finnair’s introduction of this bespoke beverage marks one of the first times a Finnish berry wine has been served in the sky.
Lauri Ahonen, Finnair Kitchen Concept & Category Manager, said: “We are extremely excited to be bringing the flavours of Finland to the sky with this new cloudberry dessert wine. “As we prepare to celebrate our centenary, we want to revisit our Nordic roots and offer our customers a traditionally Finnish experience. “We know this will be a welcome addition to our onboard menu, complementing our popular blueberry juice and signature cocktail, Northern Blush.”
Ainoa Winery makes internationally recognized, award winning wines from Finnish berries and other high-quality ingredients from the forest, striving to capture the essence of the berries, and the spirit of the land where they grow.
