TRIBE is a new type of hotel, it’s everything modern travellers are looking for – a stylish and daring brand with emphasis on design. It offers a contemporary hotel concept at an affordable price.
For this approach, TRIBE has taken the lifestyle of today’s guests as a benchmark and offers everything they need and nothing they don’t. The result are unique hotels with comfortable rooms, a carefully selected range of cosmetic products, a matching F&B concept and the so-called Social Hubs. The newly designed common areas, which attract a cosmopolitan group of people, are buzzing all day long.
TRIBE Paris Saint-Ouen opened on 30th January and is a brand new 112-room boutique hotel – a real home from home to live and relax. It suits business and leisure travellers alike who want a well-designed, functional environment where they can work, eat, socialise, and have fun at any time of the day.
The bedrooms, from 18 to almost 25 square metres, are perfect for relaxing and unwinding in style and comfort. Some of them have a view of the Parisian skyline, with Montmartre and the Sacré Cœur in the distance. Others, on the top floor, come with rooftop terraces – where guests can enjoy a coffee and look out over the busy French capital below. A Nespresso coffee maker, complete with plant-based, compostable capsules, is provided in all bedrooms. The cosmetics are by Australian celebrity hairstylist Kevin Murphy. Other special features include TRIBE’s signature bed with a comfortable mattress and high-quality bed linen, a 50-inch Chromecast-enabled TV, a clothes steamer and rain shower, and much more.
The Social Hub is the heart of all TRIBE Hotels. It was designed as a fully equipped coworking space. In the middle of it is the 203 square metre communal area: a café during the day and low-alcohol cocktail bar in the evening. It’s a meeting point for neighbours from the district, employees from nearby companies, students and passing travellers. Grab & Co is opposite, open 24/7 for snacks made with good local produce. The hotel restaurant offers finger food to share at lunch and throughout the day, with a short, fresh menu.
On the 70 square metre green terrace, one can relax with friends or colleagues in natural surroundings. In fine weather it also hosts yoga, dancing and pilates sessions and, on the lawns behind the hotel, there are lively games of boules.
“The opening of the TRIBE Paris Saint-Ouen, the 10th hotel in our hospitality group, has been much anticipated in this up-and-coming district. Everyone who comes through the door falls in love with the design, a collaboration between our teams, Maison Malapert and our partner Ennismore. With the landscaped courtyard, the boules area, the café and the bar, we have created a dreamy place to live that will delight all guests – during the day and in the evening. The line-14 metro station is just opposite and hotel residents can access central Paris and the major tourist attractions in under 15 minutes. Like all new hotels, the TRIBE Paris Saint-Ouen is in the process of obtaining Green Key International 2023 certification to contribute to sustainable tourism. We are delighted to be sharing this 6th opening in a franchise with Accor and Ennismore,” says Jean-Baptiste Martin, Managing Director and Co-founder of Suitcase Hospitality.
The Design
Maison Malapert is behind the design of the latest TRIBE. Lines and stripes are the main theme linking all areas of the project. This theme is a favourite of Michael Malapert and can be found in the lobby, corridors and bedrooms. He likes to describe it as “the line in all its states”.
“It interests us because of its very graphic visual, but also because it can echo all kinds of very diverse references: it can be used in the light fittings, on the walls and in the layout, and it can be inspired by designs in modern art, tribal art, pop art etc.”
For Maison Malapert, the project’s DNA lies in this convergence and contrast between a raw shell and stylish interior design. With this in mind, the agency has sometimes left the concrete uncovered and certain networks visible, while other much more refined and sophisticated components have given structure to the space. Theatrical microarchitecture in noble materials: copper, marble, velvet etc. The bar, a large dining table, a niche for a seat, a sideboard and bookshelves – Malapert has given these functional elements of the Social Hub their very own character.
In the bedrooms, the headboards form a strip which brings together all the functionalities of the room and leaves space on the upper part of the wall. This space is used as a background for a set of lights which project graphic shadows on the wall. Two signature colours have been used because they work well together and match with the aesthetic choices made: an electric blue for the arty side and a copper brown, which complements the blue, for the feeling of warmth it gives.
Saint-Ouen
The new TRIBE Paris Saint-Ouen is in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, in Greater Paris, just opposite the new Mairie de Saint-Ouen metro station served by lines 13 and 14. Guests have access to excellent public transport with direct links to Saint-Lazare railway station (11 minutes), Lyon railway station (19 minutes), Montparnasse railway station (36 minutes) and the main tourist attractions in Paris. Line 14 is also due to reach Orly Airport by 2024.
The famous Saint-Ouen and Paris flea markets are only a 15-minute walk (1.5 km from the hotel). In the immediate vicinity, the Stade de France and Saint Ouen Docks are areas to enjoy, with great restaurants, sports facilities and cultural activities for the millennial-friendly clientele.
