Half of Brits prefer a spa weekend with friends than partner
With National Spa Week almost on us, and more than 50,000 weddings planned for Autumn and Winter this year, wedding experts at Hitched have taken a look at the spa-going preferences of nearly-weds and brides-to-be across the UK.
In a survey of community members currently planning a wedding, it was uncovered that half of nearly-weds (49%) would rather go to the spa with their friends as this would be more fun for them, than if they went with their partners (43%), or by themselves (8%).
Additionally, more than half (54%) of respondents also said that they would be happy to have their hen or sten party at a spa, with more than a third saying they prefer to spend the night when they go to the spa, to make use of all the experiences on offer. While at the spa, nearly-weds most look forward to treating themselves to a pamper, with 28% opting to take advantage of the relaxing treatments on offer, while a further quarter (24%) prefer to relax by the pool instead.
Zoe Burke, wedding expert and editor of Hitched says: “I love that our nearly-weds are keen to have their hen or sten parties at spas, as there is always so much to do at these venues, that it ticks off so many of those ever important ‘hen-party’ activities.
“Though many are planning to make use of the treatments on offer, we found that more people spend the night or weekend at the spa, so they can take advantage of everything on offer. From boozy afternoon teas and three course meals to pamper treatments and five star accommodation, a spa weekend is a really luxe way to celebrate a nearly-wed’s impending nuptials!
“Our research shows that around 15% of Brits have never been to a spa in the UK, which is such a shame, as these weekends away with friends – or even solo – can be some of the most relaxing, and don’t we all just need a bit of relaxation in our lives right now?”
