Carnival celebration departed the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, where its sister ship, Mardi Gras, was also built to begin its first round of trials.
On board the Carnival Celebration was several officers, technicians, and engineers whose job was to check out the ship’s technical, mechanical, and navigational features. The Carnival Celebration’s maiden launch voyage is on 21 November; after a six-day maiden trip in the Caribbean, the Carnival Celebration will begin seven-day cruises to the eastern and western Caribbean from Port Miami.
Carnival Celebration to Include ‘Unique Zones’
According to the cruise line, Carnival Celebration will have “many distinct zones” on board. These include 820 Biscayne, which is characterised as a monument to Miami.
It will also feature many attractions and on-board areas seen on Mardi Gras, such as Bolt, the first rollercoaster at sea, an atrium spanning three decks, Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse, and Shaquille O’Neal’s Big Chicken restaurant.
“During her sea trials, Carnival Celebration conducted many tests to establish the ship’s potential and performance,” said Captain Vincenzo Alcaras.
We’ve conducted several manoeuvring trials, including endurance, steering, speed, and thruster tests. The ship worked admirably, and we will soon take her out and begin cruising.”
Carnival Cruise Line modified their Covid testing guidelines in August, no longer requiring fully vaccinated customers to test on sailings of less than 16 nights.
Also, in September, it welcomed Carnival Luminosa to its fleet after the ship’s changeover from sister company Costa Cruises.
