After being in lockdown for months, Brits cannot wait to have their first taste of freedom with more 70% pledging to travel for their next holiday.
According to the latest survey conducted by Inspire My Holiday, cooped-up consumers are keen to get back to normal once travel restrictions eased.
European destinations as a whole topped Brits’ wishlist. 47% of the respondents said that they would head to the continent as soon as possible. As expected, domestic travel came out top with 17% and holidays in England with 11%.
Survey shows that the following destinations are the top choices of travellers:
England
Spain
Italy
Greece
France
Meanwhile, North America remains as the favourite long-haul destination with 11%. Asia and the Caribbean trailed behind, while 3% of the respondents answered “anywhere” as a possible holiday destination showing their deep desire to get away.
The positive holiday picture is good news for travel firms, despite obvious fears about the economic effects of the pandemic, according to inspiremyholiday.com director and founder Oliver Lomas.
“As our survey shows, people in the UK love their holidays. It’s probably no surprise that people have spent the lockdown period dreaming of making their escape and planning where they want to go next,” he said.
“At inspiremyholiday.com we help people quickly find all the destinations out there which match their needs perfectly, as people often have an idea of what they want but not where to go. This can be anything as simple as somewhere hot in November with a beach, to finding faraway places with Arts, culture and wildlife.”
