Take a dip: Europe’s hottest urban beach opens in Geneva
Head to Geneva, Europe’s leading city break destination, to enjoy the recently opened Eaux-Vives beach which is located on the banks of Lake Geneva. The new beach, combined with the extensive array of outdoor activities, culture and the largest concentration of Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe, makes Geneva the ideal summer getaway.
This 400-metre-long beach has been over 10 years in the making and is the perfect place to dive headfirst into the urban swimming craze, bask in the Alpine sunshine and soak up views of the iconic Jet D’Eau and Mont Salève.
The beach is part-sand, part-pebble to allow for year-round relaxation whilst there is also a grassy park area, perfect for a summer’s day picnic. To preserve the natural beauty and crystal-clear waters of Lake Geneva, the beach operates on a 0% waste policy.
Along the beach front, electronic tricycles provide the option to buy take-away meals and some of the region’s finest ice cream to cool down in the summer heat. A beach restaurant with stunning lake-shore views is also set to open in 2020, as well as an area dedicated to fishermen.
