Chugging off: Now aboard the Eastern & Oriental Express for an exclusive lunch experience
Inbound tour operator based in Thailand, Diethelm Travel Thailand has collaborated with the iconic Eastern & Oriental Express luxury train to offer an exclusive journey this 2-3 November 2019.
Diethelm Travel Thailand guests will be able to board the world-famous Eastern & Oriental Express train in Kanchanaburi, Thailand to savour a sumptuous four-course lunch and unlimited house wine, beer and spirits while rolling through the countryside to Bangkok. The lavish lunch marks a unique opportunity to experience the opulent train, which is usually only possible to book on multi-day journeys between Bangkok and Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.
Guests will enjoy meticulously prepared dishes fusing French cooking techniques with Southeast Asian flavours for around two hours and then spend the remaining two hours time onboard from the outside observation car or soaking up the jazz club ambience in the bar carriage whilst a live piano player tickles the ivories. Free-flow house beverages will continue to be available throughout the afternoon. The once-in-a-lifetime lunch is included as part of an exclusive package.
Rates begin at USD 555 per person when booking a minimum of two people. Travellers can also choose to join extended three-day group programmes or completely tailor their journey around Thailand’s central region for more memorable experiences.
Evoking a bygone era of sophisticated train travel, the Eastern & Oriental Express has captured travellers’ imaginations since its inaugural journey from Bangkok to Singapore in 1993. With train carriages modelled after Indochina’s colonial aesthetic, superb 5-star service and exquisite cuisine, the train offers one of Southeast Asia’s most luxurious experiences.
