Austrian Airlines sees rise in traffic, witnesses increase of 4.4% in May 2019
Over 1.3 million passengers flew with Austrian Airlines in May 2019 comprising an increase of 4.4% compared to last year. The flight offering measured in available seat kilometres (ASK) was up 4.2% and revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) climbed 10.6%. Capacity utilization (passenger load factor) of the flights equalled 79.6% on average in May 2019, an increase of 4.6% compared to the previous year. The number of flights operated by Austrian Airlines was increased by 1.3% to a total of 12,668.
Andreas Otto, member of the management board and chief commercial officer of Austrian Airlines said, “The demand for flights is rising. That is why we could welcome more passengers on board. Capacity utilization was also up despite our increased offering.”
Austrian Airlines transported about 5.3 million passengers in the months from January to May 2019, comprising a rise of 6.2% compared to the previous year. The number of flights operated by Austrian Airlines was up 3.3% to 53,317 in the months from January to May 2019.
