Expedia has looked at the volume of Instagram posts and number of unique hashtags over the past year to come up with a list of 12 of the most Instagrammed spots in the UK.
Big Ben has 2.5 million Insta posts this year and is the most captured UK sight on the social network.
The sight that takes the second spot, surprisingly is Anfield football stadium, the home of Liverpool FC, which had more than 490,000 posts.
Third is prehistoric site Stonehenge (more than 454,000 posts), fourth is the New Forest in southern England (more than 363,000) and fifth is Snowdonia in Wales (more than 360,000).
12 of the most Instagrammed sights in the UK:
Big Ben
Anfield
Stonehenge

Cambridge University
The travel company has featured the top 12 sights in a new infographic, which includes some fun facts about each destination.
Kasha Dubaniewicz, project manager at Expedia, said:
“So many people now use Instagram to share their travel experiences with friends and family and it’s not hard to see why – the social network is free, easy to use and creates beautiful photos in a matter of moments.
“We wanted to find out which of the UK’s destinations prove the most popular with Instagram users, so we looked at the most-captured, most-hashtagged sites so far this year. While it’s not a surprise to see Big Ben at the top of the list, some of the others have proved to be a little more surprising.”
