Sydney’s hotel sector continued to perform strongly in March 2017, as Adele’s Australian tour helped push citywide occupancy over the 90% mark.
According to the latest data from STR, demand for hotel rooms in Australia’s largest city increased 7.1% last month, which allowed the city’s average occupancy level to rise 2.8% to 91.2% – the highest for any March in Sydney since 1996.
Sydney’s average daily rate (ADR) climbed 5.8% to AU$242.92 (approx. US$182), and revenue per available room (revPAR) jumped 8.8% to AU$221.55.
STR noted that Sydney’s hotels were boosted by Adele’s arrival in the city on 10-11 March. On the second day, occupancy in Sydney surged to 98.1% and ADR reached AU$288.91.
