Dubai and Bangkok top Southall’s UK outbound bookings

Research conducted by long haul travel company Southall Travel has revealed that Bangkok, the bustling capital city of Thailand, was the most popular city break destination amongst Brits booking their holidays in January, followed by Abu Dhabi.
Mumbai, the capital city of the Indian state of Maharashtra and the most populous city in the country is the third most popular city break destination followed by Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.
Las Vegas, the fun-filled city in Nevada concludes the top five most popular city break destinations.

The firm also revealed Dubai as the most popular long-haul beach holiday destination this year, with Bali named the fastest growing beach hot spot.
In what is the busiest month for holiday bookings, Dubai was the most popular long haul holiday destination overall, followed by the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius.
Thailand’s ever popular Phuket island, located in the Andaman Sea was the third most popular choice, with the Maldives and Sri Lanka completing the top five most popular beach holiday destinations for bookings made in January.

Fastest growing
The research also revealed destinations showing the biggest increase in bookings this January with the Indonesian island of Bali the fastest growing destination overall, with booking up 60% this month compared to January 2016.
The Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur also features in the list of the fastest growing destinations, up 43%, whilst Koh Samui, Thailand’s second largest island is the third fastest growing destination overall, up 36%.
Sri Lanka and Langkawi (Malaysia), complete the list of the top five fastest growing destinations, with bookings up 32% and 27% respectively.
Jaymin Borkhatria, Sales Director at Southall Travel commented: “It has been an incredibly busy month with bookings up around 10% this January compared to last. Dubai is proving more popular than ever and we expect it to welcome many more British holidaymakers to its beaches this year.
“Bali is becoming increasingly popular amongst British travellers and with more flights available and many fantastic hotels and resorts offering great value, we expect this trend to continue throughout 2017.”
