Ahead of the Bank Holiday weekend and half-term holidays, Cirium has revealed the number of scheduled departures from the UK and how these compare to pre-pandemic levels.

Bank Holiday weekend: (26-29 May)
- This Bank Holiday weekend (Friday 26 – Monday 29 May), 11,356 flights are scheduled to depart UK airports – equating to over 2 million seats
- This Friday (26 May) is set to see highest number of UK departures since 20 December 2019, with over 3,000 departures on that day alone
- Across the weekend, departure numbers are 6% higher than the same dates in 2022, and up 291% compared to 2021, showing a spike in outbound flights
- Scheduled departures across the weekend are also set to reach 86% of 2019 levels
- Across weekend, Heathrow Airport will see the largest number of arrivals, followed by Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester and Edinburgh
- The most popular international destinations for UK departures are projected to be Dublin, Amsterdam, Palma, Malaga and Alicante
- easyJet is projected to be the largest airline during the weekend, followed by British Airways, Ryanair, Jet2 and Loganair.
Half-term: (27 May – 4 Jun)
- This half-term, 25,606 flights are scheduled to depart UK airports – equating to over 4.5 million seats
- Across the weekend, departure numbers are 6% higher than the same period 2022, and up 268% compared to 2021, showing a spike in outbound flights
- Scheduled departures across the weekend are also set to reach 88% of 2019 levels
- Across weekend, Heathrow Airport will see the largest number of arrivals, followed by Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester and Edinburgh
- The most popular international destinations for UK departures are projected to be Dublin, Amsterdam, Palma, Malaga and Alicante
- easyJet is projected to be the largest airline during the weekend, followed by British Airways, Ryanair, Jet2 and Loganair.
