flydubai has announced plans to launch flights to Sylhet – its third destination in Bangladesh.
Commencing on 1 April 2015, the Dubai-based low-cost carrier will initially serve Sylhet five times a week, before increasing the frequency to daily on 4 May 2015.
“We are happy to welcome Sylhet, another previously underserved point, to our growing network,” said Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai. “This announcement sees our weekly service to Bangladesh grow to 34 flights, and we look forward to welcoming the people of Sylhet onboard flydubai.”
The announcement marks another step in flydubai’s expansion in South Asia; at the end of March the airline will also commence a new route to Chennai.
Currently flydubai operates to eight destinations in India, three in Pakistan, two in Bangladesh and two in Afghanistan, plus the capital cities of the Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
The Sylhet service will be operated in partnership with Bangladesh-based Regent Airways.
