Destinia.com reveals Middle East travel trends for 2015

Online travel agency Destinia.com has revealed its top travel trends for the Middle East in 2015.
At a roundtable event hosted by Amuda Goueli, CEO and cofounder of Destinia.com, experts were quick to identify the continued dominance of Dubai as a travel hub for the region.
Strategic partnerships manager for Destinia.com Ines Chueca said Dubai was her “favourite destination at the moment”.
“It is a mixed place, where you can discover new things every day, and meet people from all over the world,” she added. “It is an experience of its own.”
Experts emphasised Dubai’s growth prospects, noting that after DXB’s announcement as the world’s busiest airport, the city is set to grow, not only as a transit point, but as a destination for different types of travellers, including families, and culture seekers.
Germany, Barcelona, Turkey and the US were highlighted as the hottest destinations for Middle East travellers this year.
However, it was also noted that travellers will be searching for experiences above destinations.
Regarding the rapid expansion of technology in hospitality and travel, Goueli pointed out that “more than 40% of online travel bookings in the MENA region, through Destinia.com are made through mobile devices”.
Continuing the technology theme, wearable and mobile devices were also discussed as playing a key role in the travel industry both worldwide and in the region in 2015.
Destinia’s own Google Glass glassware Hotel Near Me was first in the sector and was showcased at last year’s Arabian Travel Market. Its migration into the mobile app was announced at the end of the roundtable.

Having celebrated its first birthday, the online travel agency aims to be amongst the top of its kind by 2017 in the MENA region.
