Travel Indochina has announced it will sell its holidays directly through travel agents with immediate effect.
The move is the first time the Asia specialists has sold directly to the trade with deals already in place with Advantage Travel Centres, The Travel Network Group, Barrhead Travel and Midcounties Co-operative Travel. The tour operator is now gearing up to launch its first brochures under its own logo on 5 November.
“We have been working towards this for some time and the market is there now,” Manda Chuchill, general manager of Travel Indochina told Travel Daily on the announcement. “We have increased our exposure on this part of the world and are now looking to recreate the model we have in the Australian office. There is a big retail and wholesale division there that we want to replicate in the UK.”
The tour operator has two business development staff on the road who will be working with partners to build knowledge and awareness of its backpacker style holidays for the older generation. It will also continue to hand out its training DVDs covering Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and India, with the latter a focus for the next month.
Travel Indochina’s new brochures are due to be launched on Monday detailing its small group journeys, tailor-made options and river cruises, which sees more guaranteed departures for its holidays. Churchill said its Burma itineraries continue to be popular with customers while beach holidays are also picking up in Vietnam thanks to the new flights from the UK.
