Contact Air: One passenger slightly insured during emergency landing
Contact Air confirms that its flight LH 288 from Berlin/Tegel to Stuttgart had to land with a partially activated main landing gear at 10.49 hrs (MESZ). The aircraft took off at 8.44 hrs in Berlin.
During landing only one passenger was slightly injured, one flight attendant was taken to hospital as a precautious measure. All passengers could leave the aircraft by using the emergency slides. Specially trained Lufthansa employees are currently taking care of the passengers at the airport in Stuttgart.
73 passengers and five crew members were on board of the Fokker 100 with the registration D-AFKE. Despite several attempts of the cockpit crew, the main landing gear could not be activated fully for landing.
The aircraft was built in November 1995 and flew 31,465 flight hours and 33,541 landings until today’s incident. The last comprehensive technical check (C Check) took place on August 5th, 2009. The cockpit crew consisted of a 60 year-old flight captain with 17,443 flight hours as well as a 30 year-old co-pilot (2,309 flight hours). Since this flight was a training flight for the co-pilot, a 27 year-old female training pilot (2,605 flight hours) was also present in the cockpit.
