easyJet has announced it will operate flights to Venice in Italy from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) later this year, taking the number of routes they operate from Liverpool to 29.
This new service is due to commence on 31 October, with twice weekly departures on Tuesdays and Saturdays all year round.
Flights are on sale now, with the airline expecting to fly 30,000 passengers a year on the route to and from Venice.
Paul Winfield, Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s air service development director said: “This latest commitment by easyJet to Liverpool is great news for the Airport and for the City Region. Venice is another new destination to add to the growing list of popular European cities that passengers from across the North West can fly to from Liverpool – the fastest, easiest and friendliest airport in the North West.”
Ali Gayward, country manager at easyJet said: “We’re delighted to be adding Venice to easyJet’s destinations from Liverpool. It allows us to further enhance our range of leisure and business destinations from the airport.
“Being one of the most romantic and magical places in the world, Venice often tops peoples list of places to visit at least once in their life. It’s also a strong European economic hub and we expect to see plenty of support from the business community on the route.
“This announcement highlights our commitment to providing affordable year round routes to from Liverpool but will also benefit inbound tourism to the city.”
