Royal Caribbean has revealed details of the second year of its internship programme which gives students the chance to gain valuable, transferrable skills across key sectors of the Royal Caribbean business.
Seven second year students studying Tourism Management and related business subjects at the University of Chester have joined the Royal Caribbean team for the month of May.
Chosen via a competitive selection process which took into account both their academic performance and interviews, students have each been given a project by a different area of the business with the support of a dedicated mentor.
The programme kicked off with a three-night familiarisation cruise onboard Independence of the Seas over the Bank Holiday weekend. The students are now undertaking a series of programmes designed to provide them with a deep understanding of the Royal Caribbean brand and the wider industry.
Ben Bouldin, associate VP and managing director, Royal Caribbean International, UK & Ireland commented: “I passionately believe that tomorrow’s travel industry leaders could be the young people joining our industry through initiatives such as our internship programme in partnership with the University of Chester. I have very much looked forward to welcoming these talented individuals to join our team and to give them the opportunity to gain valuable skills and work experience.”
Dr. Maeve Marmion, programme leader for International Tourism Management, University of Chester, said: “We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with Royal Caribbean and offering our students unparalleled experience working with a leading travel brand. The seven programmes our students have embarked on have been specially co-created with the Royal Caribbean team to ensure our students have the chance to develop the skills required to be successful in the travel industry.”
